Who am I? A general question, yet I have no specific answer for it. I always sit and wonder why I am here and what my purpose in life is. I know we are all destined to do something but most of us fail to see it. We are blinded with the materialistic world and what it offers, that we often stray away from our original path.
If only we were to open our eyes and see clearly what lay ahead of us, we would not be blinded and confused by the obstacles that stand in the way. These obstacles that we fear when we encounter them and hide away to avoid them. It’s time we set our priorities straight and ask ourselves what is it we are here for, how long will we have to stay and what impression we want to keep for our loved ones. It is important to remember that our actions not only affects us but also affects those around us. It’s time we take a closer look at ourselves and decide the right path that will lead us to salvation.
Now that the curtain is slightly removed, we have to think of the first step regarding this change. We first have to think of changing ourselves before going about changing others because I truly believe that through you others will change. To do that, we have to set our priorities straight.
As a Muslim, my priority is to serve Allah and Allah alone. That means I have to do what is right and avoid what is wrong. This is easily said than done. We all know we have to serve Allah and obey him in every way and that what most of us try to do but other outer factors sometimes hinder us from doing what is right.
Other factors that had been prepared by the devil to delude us from the right path. Thus, what’s right is presented to us as wrong and what’s wrong is presented to us as right. If you look around, you will find that many people had misused the use of the new technologies to their own self-interest.
With the internet and other latest devices, people had lost their sense of individuality and have become more open and vulnerable to the people around them. The concept of privacy had disappeared totally and everyone became exposed to the other. Thus the new inventions that were discovered to aid the human needs and make life easier for us has been totally misused by some to serve their own selfish unwanted schemes.
With all these changes we had entered a world of confusion and dilemma. A world where we have sunk to the bottomless pit and thus are unable to get up and stand on our two feet. A world were the wrong appeared right and right appeared wrong. We have totally been brainwashed and strayed away from the right path but before we are pulled further into that path we have to stop somewhere and ling to the nearest shore for safety.
It’s time we take a stand and see where we have reached and what we have accomplished in the time that was giving to us. It is important that we seek help from our trusted companions but most importantly we have to seek help from Allah and never loose our faith. Loosing it will only sink us more to a darkest path.
Gaining back our faith is an easy process but keeping it is the hardest task. It requires greater strength and a strong will of mind. And this is where I decided I have to start my change. So next time when I sit with myself and look around me I will be able to answer the most difficult question ever, “Who am I?”
